The Cleveland Browns have been banging for 6 days now and the physical nature of their practices have been taking their toll. Not only has the team lost LeCharles Bentley for the year, they will now lose starters Ryan Tucker and Daylon McCutcheon for the rest of training camp.

Tucker and McCutcheon are expected to return before the season opener on September 10th, but with surgery nothing is 100% definite. In their stead Kirk Chambers and Leigh Bodden will step in.

Chambers is a 3rd year pro who is looking to make an impression. "With high school and college, that's eight years of playing left tackle," Chambers said following Sunday's training camp practice. "That's a long time. There are a lot of habits you have to break. I feel more comfortable on the right side now. It's not instinctive with me there yet, but it's coming."

Bodden was in a competition with McCutcheon to start before his surgery, he will now more then likely assume the starting position by default.

Veteran wide receiver Joe Jurevicius was held out of practice today as well with back spasms. According to head coach Romeo Crennel, Jurevicius’ back spasms did not loosen up and the veteran receiver was held out of both practices Monday.

Rookie free agent running back Chris Barclay is battling a twisted ankle. Crennel and the team are hoping that it is not a high ankle sprain. Barclay has been somewhat of a pleasant surprise in training camp so far.

On the competition front it appears that rookie LB D’Qwell Jackson may be closing the gap between himself and veteran Chaun Thompson. Thompson hasn’t slipped, Jackson has been surging as he grown more and more comfortable and his instincts take over.

Another competition that is far from settled is the safety position between Sean Jones and Brodney Pool. Jones appears to have the earlier lead, but ever so slightly. It seems that 2 full years removed from ACL surgery, Jones is ready to announce his arrival on the NFL stage. Pool will push him every step and it will make watching the competition even more fun.
