The Cleveland Browns ended their 2006 regular season like it began, with a loss. On Sunday in Houston the Browns dominated virtually every aspect of the game except the amount of turnovers and the score board. The Texans capitalized on Browns mistakes and captured their 6th win of the season defeating the Browns 14-6. The loss gave Cleveland a 4-12 record for the 2006 season.

For the Browns it was another attempt to put lipstick on a pig of a season. In an attempt to salvage a win, head coach Romeo Crennel decided to start Charlie Frye at QB. Frye had not played in nearly a month due to a bone bruise in his right wrist. Many were wondering, why play Frye now in a season clearly lost? It is one of many questions fans are asking about their head coach.

Frye was efficient completing 25 of 34 passes, but again was careless in the red zone and ended a Browns scoring drive by throwing an interception in the end zone on the teams opening drive. The Browns had the ball on offense for 21 more plays then the Texans and 16 minutes and 12 seconds, but still could only muster 6 points behind the Frye led offense. Many people are probably wondering if they could have at least scored a touchdown if backup, third string QB, Ken Dorsey would have played.

Sunday's game marked the 5th game this year that the Browns offense failed to score a touchdown. It also marked the 1st time in 32 consecutive games that the Texans did not allow their opponent to score a touchdown. The loss also marked the first time in 5 years that the Browns did not win their season finale.

The Browns defense had one of it's better games of the year, allowing only 7 points, but once again were victimized by their own offense. Charlie Frye's fumble returned for a touchdown in the 3rd quarter marked the 5th time this year the Browns offense has a turnover returned for a touch down.

Leading the defense was rookie OLB Kemerion Wimbley, whose sack Sunday gave him 11 for the season. Wimbley's 11 sacks tied him for 7th overall in sacks in the AFC.

CB Daven Holley added his 5th interception of the season, intercepting Texans QB David Carr in the end zone to end

The Browns now close the 2006 season having lost 10 or more games for the 4th straight year. For fans it was an end to another long, hapless and hopeless season. For those eternal optimist, there's always next year.
