After a monster first week in free agency that saw the team sign incumbent QB Derek Anderson, WR Donte' Stallworth and trade for 2 defensive linemen in Corey Williams and Shaun Rogers the Browns went silent. That was until today when the team announced the re-signing of veteran offensive linemen Lennie Friedman and free agent offensive linemen Rex Hadnot.
Friedman has been a backup for the Browns the past 2 seasons and even started 2 games n that stretch. His deal is for 1 year and really gives the Browns veteran depth at both guard and center.
Thought the team has not announced the Hadnot signing it was reported in the Palm Beach Post that he had signed with the team.
Hadnot’s agent, Brian Overstreet, told The Palm Beach Post this afternoon Hadnot has agreed to terms with the Browns.
Terms aren’t yet known, but Hadnot had been looking for a four or five year deal at about million per. He also visited the Texans, Titans, Steelers and Chiefs but came away without any offers.
The question many Browns fans have is why? Both starting right guard Ryan Tucker and starting center Hank Fraley are getting older and Hadnot, who can play both guard and center, is only 26 years old. Hadnot started all 48 games for the Dolphins over the last 3 seasons.
