It was a comeback that was improbable, if not impossible. Gary Baxter's return from two torn petellar tendons has been put on hold in what could be the end of the 8 year veterans career as the Browns released him Saturday.
In a statement issued by the Browns General Manager Phil Savage it was clear that the parting was more than just bitter-sweet.
“Last year we were able to hold a roster spot open for Gary as he attempted to make a monumental comeback,”
said Phil Savage, Cleveland Browns Senior Vice President and General Manager. “After he underwent a knee
scope last week, we are unfortunately not in a position to hold a roster spot this year. We are releasing Gary
today in hopes he will be able to continue his rehab and get back into the NFL, either with another team, or
possibly with the Browns. Gary has made tremendous strides thus far and we believe he can play professional
football again in the future.”
Baxter underwent knee surgery this past week after experiencing some pain and swelling in one of his surgically repaired knees. It is not known at this time if Baxter will continue in his attempt to comeback or decide to retire.
We here at DawgBones.com wish Gary the best of luck in any future endeavor he decides to pursue.
