Phil, What Were You Thinking!?!
There I was, draft day 2008. I had a nice list of prospects that I thought would be ideal where we were picking in the second day. I had them prioritized by my own draft grade and also by how I thought they would fall in the draft. Hours of researching guys, watching Tivo’d games, scrutinizing senior bowl practices. I thought I would be able to read Phil’s mind and predict at least a couple of our picks. Then like everyone else who watched I was utterly surprised by every move we made. read more
Browns Add Potential On Day 2
Though they were quiet on Day 1 of the 2008 NFL Draft it didn't take long for Phil Savage and the Cleveland Browns to get busy on Day 2. In doing so the Browns feel they added at least 2 players in UNLV's Beau Bell and Missouri's Martin Rucker that can contribute in 2008. read more
No Draft, No Problem For Browns Fans
For the past 5 years the fans of the Cleveland Browns looked forward to free agency and the NFL Draft, perhaps more than the season itself. Let's face it, the actual football season's from 2003-2006 were anything but pleasant and 2007 was an utter shock to most. With the lack of success in the regular season fans began to look for their victories elsewhere and free agency and the draft provided that platform. With the teams success in 2007 do those things mean as much to Browns fans? read more

How Much Is Too Much?
There is no secret that the fans and city of Cleveland, Ohio have been starved for a contender in the NFL for a long time now. In 2007 the Cleveland Browns gave their fans a glimpse at what may be by going 10-6 and shocking the entire football world. As the team heads into the 2008 season they are clearly on the rise and with their recent free agent signings and trades the team seems poised to make a run at the playoffs and dare we say the Super Bowl in 2008. Browns Reach 10 Wins, But No Playoffs
When all was said and done Sunday the Cleveland Browns won 10 games, but it wasn't enough to make the 2007 playoffs as the Tennessee Titans beat the Indianapolis Colts to lock up the 6th and final AFC spot. Many were left to wonder what could have been and though there were some negative feelings, there was no feeling of failure as the Browns made the biggest turn around of any team in 2007 by winning 6 more games then they did in 2006. read more

Playoffs Denied For Browns
Week 1 of the NFL season seems like forever ago to the fans of the Cleveland Browns, but on Sunday in Cincinnati they were reminded of it at the very worst possible time. The Browns controlled their own fate, by beating the Bengals they would be in the AFC playoffs for the 1st time since 2002. Instead QB Derek Anderson threw 4 interceptions, 3 were in the red zone and 2 on consecutive plays to end the 2nd quarter. The Browns have a chance to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2002, when much maligned QB Tim Couch took the team to a 9-7 record, and abruptly had his season ended by something he had endured his whole career, punishing hits by pass rushers. Couch's career abruptly ended then and there, as he never had a chance to prove himself in post season competition, and then the hits finally had caught up with him. It was just a matter of time, before a player that was fondly nicknamed "mule," would be sent packing to the glue factory, and the knife of a surgeon, never to be heard from again. read more
Browns Beat Bills, Playoff Hopes Live On
With their respective seasons on the line the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns met on the banks of Lake Erie on Sunday, Mother Nature decided to join them. In blizzard like conditions throughout the game the Browns offense did just enough behind the running of Jamal Lewis, 2 clutch Phil Dawson field goals and a shutout by their much maligned defense to beat the Bills 8-0. The win puts the Browns at 9-5 and squarely into the AFC playoff hunt. The loss dropped the Bills to 7-7 and out of playoff contention. read more

Tough Old Bird To Take on Fledgling Browns Secondary
This team is every bit as much a challenge as was Houston. We are going into hostile territory against a team that is smarting from an overtime loss in a game they should have won. You would think with Kurt Warner throwing for nearly 500 yards that this would have been an easy win for the Cards. Miscues, turnovers and mistakes kept San Francisco in the game. Defensive Trends: Has the D Really Regressed?
The Browns defense has taken a lot of flak this season. Many looked at what they had been able to do in the past few years, especially the pass defense and line-backing corps, and figured the unit would be the strength of the team while the offense struggled to find its identity. The reality so far this year has been the negative of that image. The Browns playmakers have emerged on the offense and special teams, with stars like Derek Anderson, Kellen Winslow, Braylon Edwards and Joe Jurevicius, while the defensive one's(Sean Jones, Kamerion Wimbley, Leigh Bodden to name a few) have all, but disappeared. I started asking myself, “Had the defense had truly regressed or this was a product of other factors of this Browns team?” read more

Defending the Defense
Some claim that it's indefensible. I don't necessarily believe that's true. I've maintained that these guys would improve and play just well enough to give the Browns a chance to win. The defense doesn't look all that imposing, doesn't look all that flashy, doesn't look all that stout, but since the bye week they have been playing better. It's not just a "gut feel" thing either. Sure the statistics don't look that great, but this team is getting stops at critical times in these games, which is giving their offense just enough of a chance to pull out a W. read more

There was plenty of hype for the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts match up on Sunday afternoon, but it was the game between the Cleveland Browns and Seattle Seahawks that stole the day. Black Hats, Assasins, and Thugs
Browns fans have had to endure a lot since the return of their team in 1999. Mostly they have to endure abuse from other fans of rival teams who disrespect our history and our past achievements. This week we look at the defense. Last year, the defense was the closest thing this team had to a strength. This season, the defense is allowing even the worst teams in the league to run up the score. What happened? On paper, this defense should be much improved.
